The Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana is transforming the lives of nearly 6,000 orphaned and vulnerable children in Himachal Pradesh by ensuring care, education and long-term support under the guidance of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Launched in February 2023, the scheme makes the state a guardian for these children, covering their education, skill development and overall welfare up to the age of 27. Monthly financial assistance, housing support, startup aid and other benefits are provided to help them become self-reliant.
Key provisions include free education, monthly allowances, hostel and rent support, and grants for clothing, festivals, marriage and higher studies. The government has also supported admissions in reputed schools and provides career counselling, coaching and exposure visits.
Around Rs. 85.88 crore has already been spent on beneficiaries, while a dedicated residential complex worth Rs. 92.38 crore is under construction in Kangra to house about 400 children.
The scheme is further strengthened by the Sukh-Aashray Fund with an initial corpus of Rs. 101 crore, supported by public and institutional contributions.
More than a welfare programme, Sukh-Aashray stands as a commitment that every child in Himachal Pradesh deserves dignity, opportunity and a secure future.
