Himachal Pradesh CM emphasized the immediate release of pending dues for the state during the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog held in New Delhi, chaired by PM Modi. He stated that if the central government releases the state’s legitimate pending payments on time, Himachal Pradesh can become self-reliant.

CM highlighted the special needs of hill states, urging for higher fund allocations and relaxation of eligibility criteria in various schemes. He presented a comprehensive plan to develop tourism in the state, integrating religious, ecological, water, nature, and health tourism to position Himachal Pradesh as a leading tourist destination nationally and internationally. Additionally, he informed about the expansion of Kangra Airport to accommodate larger aircraft, which will boost tourism in the region.

Sukhu also advocated for the state’s rights in hydroelectric projects and demanded appropriate royalty payments from central public sector undertakings. He referred to the state’s energy policy that mandates royalty rates of 12% for the first 12 years, 18% for the next 18 years, and 30% for the subsequent 10 years. While private companies comply with these rates, he insisted that central PSUs should also adhere to them.

Describing Himachal Pradesh as the “lungs of North India,” the CM emphasized the state’s role in environmental conservation and argued that it deserves a “Green Bonus.” He shared the state government’s target to become a Green Energy State by March 31, 2026, and announced the establishment of a one-megawatt green hydrogen plant in Solan district in collaboration with .

The meeting also included discussions on promoting entrepreneurship, skill development, and sustainable employment opportunities. Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena and Chief Minister’s Secretary Rakesh Kanwar accompanied the Chief Minister.
