In alignment with the nationwide Swachhta Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2025, the NITI Aayog undertook a series of initiatives from 17th September to 2nd October 2025 to promote cleanliness, awareness, and environmental responsibility across its premises. The campaign, part of the lead-up to Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October, also marks the 11th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, and coincides with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, whose ideals continue to inspire the mission’s objectives.
Organized under the theme “Swachhotsav”, SHS 2025 is a collaborative initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, in partnership with various ministries and departments across India. NITI Aayog’s active participation reinforced its commitment to a clean and garbage-free India.
As part of the campaign, a special inspection of the Record Room was carried out on 24th September 2025 by senior officers. This activity focused on the review, digitisation, and systematic weeding out of old files, along with the safe disposal of scrap materials. The initiative aimed to improve administrative efficiency while aligning with sustainability goals.
To build widespread awareness, banners and standees were displayed throughout NITI Aayog’s office complex, including entrance gates, corridors, and common areas. In addition, SHS 2025 visuals were also featured on the homepage of the NITI Aayog website, ensuring visibility both offline and online.
A comprehensive cleanliness drive was conducted across all office floors between 22nd and 26th September, engaging staff members at all levels in ensuring hygienic and clutter-free workspaces. Parallelly, the departmental canteen underwent a deep cleaning exercise, covering both the hall and kitchen areas, led by the internal welfare team.
A key highlight of the campaign was the Swachhta Pledge Ceremony held on 25th September as part of the national call for “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath”. The Hon’ble Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Suman K. Bery, administered the Swachhta Pledge to the staff, alongside CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam. This was followed by a cleanliness drive across the outdoor campus, symbolizing leadership-led action and community involvement.
Through these sustained and diverse activities, NITI Aayog reiterated its unwavering dedication to the values of cleanliness, good governance, and environmental responsibility, as envisioned under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The institution continues to lead by example, promoting a culture of hygiene, digitisation, and collective participation in national development goals.
