Swadhinta Senaniyon Se Prernaon ka Amrit’ organized at HPU Shimla

Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Shimla chapter in association with Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Himachal Pradesh University, organized a seminar on the subject Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘Swadhinta Senaniyon Se Prernaon ka Amrit’ in Himachal Pradesh University today. On this occasion, eminent writer Dr. Usha Bande said that the role of freedom fighters in making India independent cannot be forgotten.  She said that due to their sacrifices and efforts the nation has emerged as one of the leading country in world. While sharing her views she highlighted some important points from books written on Mahatma Gandhi by various authors. She said that the relation between Gandhi Ji and freedom is not casual but perpetual and have changed with the passage of time. The principles and philosophy of Gandhi Ji is hailed and are relevant today. His spirit awakens the feeling of patriotism and his ideology is worshiped and embraced by many people.  She said that the principles of Gandhi Ji have been given prominence in the literature of different languages.

Former Director of Information and Public Relations Department and founder of PRSI Shimla Chapter B.D Sharma also shared his views on the occasion. He said that there are total 25 chapters of Public Relations Society of India and Shimla chapter is also one of them. While expressing his views on Amrit Mahotsav which is also the Amrit Kaal of journalism, he said that media personnel have played an important role in the political, cultural, socio-economic development of the country during this period. He said that during the independence struggle, newspapers and magazines have played an important role by writing about the life of great freedom fighters which have awakened the feeling of patriotism among the countrymen. He said that at present the role of media has changed. In today’s time, lack of truthfulness in newspapers is a matter of concern. At one time journalism was adopted as a mission but today journalism has become a profession. He called upon the budding journalists to move forward while keeping in mind the basic spirit of journalism. He called upon all the colleagues and students to come forward for the development of journalism on the occasion. He told the students that they are the future of the country and we have so many hopes and expectations from them.

Joint Director of Information and Public Relations Department and President of PRSI Shimla Chapter Pradeep Kunwar while welcoming all the present dignitaries said that Shimla Chapter of PRSI is doing remarkable work in this field. This chapter is also playing a prominent role in raising issues of national and social interest from time to time. Before the programme, tribute was paid to veteran Journalist Vepa Rao. On this occasion, Public Relation Officer Himachal Pradesh University and General Secretary, PRSI Shimla Chapter Dr. Ranveer Verma presented the vote of thanks. Additional Director, Information and Public Relations Department Aarti Gupta, Himachal Pradesh University Journalism Department Prof. Dr. Vikas Dogra, Dr. Shashikant Sharma and Assistant Professor Dr. Ajay Kumar and other members of PRSI Shimla Chapter were also present on the occasion.
