A special program was organized today at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, where a heartfelt tribute was paid to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the founder of the institute and the second President of India. On this occasion, in the presence of the institute’s Secretary, Mehar Chand Negi, a garland was placed on Dr. Radhakrishnan’s portrait to pay respects.
During the program, Dr. Radhakrishnan’s dedication to education and his immense contributions were remembered. Along with this, a weekly Fellows’ seminar was organized at the institute, in which Tagore Fellow, Professor (Dr.) Om Prakash Sharma, delivered his introductory presentation on his research project titled “The Temporal Aspects of Art and Calligraphy in Himachal’s Archeological Sancha Manuscripts.” The seminar was chaired by Fellow, Dr. Pramod V. Pathak.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Professor Vidya Sharda, the mentor of Professor Sharma, was also present, further elevating the event’s stature. The seminar was held in the institute’s Seminar Hall and was simultaneously live-streamed on Cisco WebEx and the institute’s Facebook page. On this occasion, a pledge was taken to embrace the importance of teachers and to uphold the ideals of Dr. Radhakrishnan.
