Governor Kavinder Gupta today launched the ‘Tobacco-Free Himachal’ campaign of YouVAH (Youth for Voluntary Action in Himachal) at Lok Bhavan. The initiative will be implemented across all 12 districts of the state with a focus on raising awareness against tobacco use and promoting a healthier, addiction-free society.
A delegation of YouVAH called on the Governor and briefed him about its ongoing mission ‘Youth for Rise – No to Drugs, Yes to Passion’, under which the tobacco-free drive is being actively carried out. The team shared details of awareness campaigns, outreach programmes and youth engagement activities being conducted across the state.
The delegation informed that their organisation has been working at the grassroots level to educate students, youth and the public about the harmful effects of tobacco and substance abuse, while encouraging adoption of a disciplined and healthy lifestyle.
Governor Kavinder Gupta appreciated the initiative, stating that sustained awareness among youth is key to addressing the challenge of drug and tobacco addiction in society. He emphasized that collective community efforts and active youth participation are essential for building a healthier future generation.
He encouraged the YouVAH team to continue their efforts and assured them of full support. The Governor also highlighted the importance of value-based education, positive thinking, and constructive youth engagement in social development.
