Jallianwala Bagh Massacre Remembrance Day is observed every year on 13 April to honour the victims of one of the most tragic events in India’s freedom struggle.

On this day in 1919, British troops under General Reginald Dyer opened fire on a large, peaceful gathering at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. Hundreds of unarmed men, women, and children were killed, and many more were injured. The gathering included people who had come to celebrate Vaisakhi, making the incident even more devastating.

The day is remembered across India as a symbol of colonial brutality and the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence. People pay tribute to those who lost their lives, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of unity, freedom, and justice.
