World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day is observed globally to highlight the impact of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs)—a group of infectious diseases that affect over one billion people, mostly in tropical and subtropical regions. These diseases often receive less attention and funding compared to other global health issues, despite causing severe illness, disability, and social stigma. The day aims to raise awareness, promote prevention and treatment programs, and encourage global collaboration to ultimately eliminate NTDs and improve health and quality of life for affected communities.
