On 27 November, several notable observances take place around the world. In the United States, Thanksgiving Day in 2025 falls on Thursday, 27 November; traditionally celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, this holiday is a time for families to come together and give thanks for the year’s blessings, often sharing a festive meal that includes turkey, stuffing, and other traditional dishes. For Sri Lankan Tamils, the day is observed as Maaveerar Naal, a solemn occasion honoring the sacrifice of militants who lost their lives during the Sri Lankan civil conflict, marked by ceremonies of remembrance and reflection. Meanwhile, in Mongolia, 27 November is celebrated as Independence Day, commemorating the country’s liberation from Chinese control in 1921, with patriotic events, cultural programs, and public gatherings highlighting Mongolia’s sovereignty and history.
