Tourism in Himachal remains accessible despite recent heavy rains

A spokesperson of the Tourism and Civil Aviation department today said that recent reports regarding widespread road blockages in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains and landslides are exaggerated. While some roads in certain areas have been affected, the majority of roads across the state remain open and accessible for tourists and the general public.

He said that tourism is vital for the state and the state government was committed to ensuring visitors can travel safely and enjoy their holidays in Himachal Pradesh so that they leave state with pleasant memories. The Public Work Department was also working diligently to clear any blockages and restore travel routes promptly.

The spokesperson said that the State government has taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety and convenience of tourists. Regular updates on road conditions are being provided by the district administration and state police. He said that key tourist destinations including Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti continue to welcome visitors.

He said that tourists have been encouraged to check for updates on specific routes and travel with confidence. He urged travelers to stay informed by checking the latest travel advisories and road conditions through district administration helplines, police department contacts and social media handles.
