Training Programme On Gender Budgeting In Himachal Pradesh

Three days Divisional level Training Programme on Gender Budgeting for Officers of District Shimla, Solan, Sirmour and Kinnaur was organized by the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Himachal Pradesh from 4th to 6th March, 2024 at H. P. Institute of Public Administration, Fairlawns, Shimla, on the commencement of activities being carried out for the celebration of International Women’s Day on the theme ‘Inspiring Inclusion’.Middle Level Officers of various Departmentsof Himachal Pradesh like Agriculture, Horticulture, Jal Shakti, Industries, Energy, Information Technology, Education and Transport, HP Kaushal Vikas Nigam etc.attended this training programme.

Dr. Rajeev Bansal Joint Director (Retd.), HIPA, Prof. (Dr.) MamtaMokta, Chairperson, Department of Public Administration, Himachal Pradesh University and Ms. Purnima Chauhan (Retd. IAS) are among the Resource Person/Guest Faculty for this training programme.

Ms. Rupali Thakur (IAS) Director, Women and Child Development shared her views on implementation of Gender Budgeting. She also added that the Gender Budgeting is to address various gender related issues especially those related to women. The participants were sensitized to identify such issues and plan the programmes and policies with respect to their Departments keeping the gender perspective in mind.

The participants were also encouraged to create Gender Budgeting cells in their Department and gather gender segregated data to improve their policies and programmes. Rajender Singh Negi (Deputy Director), Ms. Kshiti Garg(State Mission Coordinator) and Mr. Baldev Singh (Gender Specialist) were also present and shared their views and experiences about Gender Budgeting.
