Governor Kavinder Gupta today attended the sacred Shiv-Shakti Mahakatha and Shiv Vivah Mahotsav organized by Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan in Shimla. On the occasion, he offered prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, seeking peace, prosperity, happiness and the overall well-being of the people of the State.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said he was delighted to be part of the spiritually uplifting event, adding that such programmes play a significant role in preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions. He observed that Sanatan Dharma is not merely a religion but a way of life founded on the timeless principles of compassion, harmony and universal brotherhood. Referring to the ancient Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, he said the concept continues to inspire the world with the ideals of peace, unity and peaceful coexistence.
The Governor said that although the shift from joint families to nuclear families reflects changing social realities, it should not weaken the values of togetherness, mutual affection and meaningful communication within families. He emphasized that love, respect and open dialogue must continue to form the cornerstone of every household.
Expressing concern over the growing problem of drug abuse among the youth, Shri Gupta said that while effective law enforcement is essential, lasting solutions lie in nurturing children with strong moral and cultural values. He urged parents to spend quality time with their children, encourage open communication, become their trusted guides and introduce them to India’s rich cultural heritage and spiritual traditions.
The Governor called upon all sections of society to work together to preserve and pass on India’s cultural ethos, family traditions and spiritual values to future generations.
