GNFPS.13.5-(4)May 12 is an auspicious day in the Sikh History as on this day great sikh general Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was born. As a mark of honour, this day is celebrated as a ‘Victory Day’ in the Sikh religion. As we all know, Wazid Khan, the Mughal Emperor ordered younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh to be bricked alive in ‘Suba Sirhind’. So Baba Banda Singh Bahadur took revenge and killed Wazid Khan in the Battle of Chappar Chiri on 12th May, 1710 where the gurdwara sahib of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur is situated.

The management and students of Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Mohali proudly organised the chabeel (sweet water) with black chana which were distributed among the passer by, who were the part of the procession which began from the gurudwara sahib. The staff and students of class IX and X participated in this activity by quenching the thirst with sweet water (chabeel).

School Principal Namita Lal highly appreciated this endeavour. According to her these type of social activities develop life skills among students which are utmost necessary in this fast pacing era where spiritual and social upbringing is at the verge of extinction.
