Gaiety.Hobby.ClsWith the end of the academic session children have got an opportunity to make their cold winter vacations cooler by getting enrolled in the winter hobby classes organized by the Department of Language, Art and Culture, Himachal Pradesh at Gaiety Theatre. Children belonging to age groups of 8 to 16 are experiencing the touch of various art forms in these classes as they are being taught classical, contemporary dance in dance classes by Poonam Sharma on one hand whereas on the other Performing Art forms such as acting classes are being taken by Anita Thakur. Students also learn the art of drawing, painting and using waste material for making something useful in other hobby classes being organized by the Department.

Gaiety.Hobby.Cls.bThe classes began from 15th December, 2015 and will be held till 22nd February, 2016. These classes are divided into three section where acting class are held in the morning, painting class by 12 noon in which nearly 70 to 80 students are participating and last but not the least dance classes in evening till five o’clock.

This is for the second time in a row that these classes are being organized by the Department based on first come first served basis. The minimal fee of Rs 300 is being charged for these classes.

As informed by the Manager of Gaiety Theatre, these classes are held with the objective of providing students of the City with an opportunity to grow and polish their interested fields as in schools many students shy away from experimenting with their skills. With this platform they cannot only experiment but also showcase their talent on a bigger stage as students from various schools participate in these classes.

On the other hand teachers are also happy with the massive student strength as they all believe that they too are learning something from children; as leaning has a two way communication. Parents also seem quite satisfied as they feel that in times when children are glued just to technical world it is a perfect way to bring them close to reality as most of them now spend their time in a virtual world.
