As the entire world united hand in hand to celebrate International Woman’s Day, NGO and other societies in Shimla City also did not stay behind in celebrating womanhood. YES (Youth Enlightening Society) in association with Strom Raider and Collimating Colors organized an awareness campaign in the Amphitheater, on the Ridge. This year’s theme of the International Women’s was “Make it Happen” and going by it they all united and staged different activities that can make a positive difference in the lives of others rather than simply talking on issues.
The event started with a blood donation camp wherein they emphasized that it is important to save lives of others, followed by a brief note by Dr. Nikhil Himthani who guided the audiences about different types of cancer that are becoming common among females. He informed the people regarding the symptoms and encouraged them about regular checkups. He also laid stress on adopting healthy lifestyle.
A small street play was also staged to create awareness among people regarding women safety. It highlighted the measures that one can take in a difficult situation and how life of a female can be transformed forever. This street play was performed at various places including Scandal Point, Sanjauli Chawk and Amphitheater, the Ridge.
