Auckland House School and Auckland House School for Boys unveiled ‘The Jacob’s Collection’—a dynamic and thoughtfully curated exhibition celebrating the artistic brilliance of their young students—at the iconic Gaiety Theatre. Inaugurated by Michael A. John, Founding Principal of Auckland House School for Boys, the exhibition brings together nearly 100 artworks created by students from Classes 7 to 12 (Boys) and Classes 9 to 12 (Girls).
What makes this showcase exceptional is not only the technical skill on display but the depth of vision expressed by the students. The artworks reflect their evolving understanding of life—sometimes vibrant, sometimes contemplative, and at times courageously exploring darkness. Working within an open theme, students experimented freely, resulting in a wide spectrum of artistic expressions ranging from abstracts and cultural symbolism to surreal landscapes, emotional narratives, and richly layered mixed-media pieces. The collection stands as proof of the progressive encouragement provided by the schools’ teachers and management, whose support has empowered young artists to explore, question, and create with confidence.
Featuring acrylics, oils, charcoal, pen work, and mixed-media creations, the exhibition offers art enthusiasts an accessible opportunity to invest in young talent.
The title, The Jacob’s Collection, pays tribute to Mr. Jacob, an early art collector and décor merchant associated with Belvedere, whose appreciation for aesthetics and preservation enriches the exhibition with historical context. His legacy serves as a cultural thread linking the students’ modern expressions to Shimla’s artistic heritage.
Addressing the gathering, Michael A. John remarked, “It is immensely heartening to witness the creative spirit of our young artists. Their work reflects confidence and a deep understanding of technique. ‘The Jacob’s Collection’ is not just an exhibition—it is a celebration of imagination nurtured through guidance, discipline, and opportunity.” He further added, “The creativity displayed by our students today is truly inspiring. I would especially like to appreciate the art teachers of both Auckland House School and Auckland House School for Boys, whose dedication, guidance, and encouragement have clearly played a significant role in shaping this exceptional body of work.”
The exhibition will remain open from December 10 to 12, 2025, welcoming parents, art lovers, and the wider community to witness the impressive talent, thoughtful perspectives, and artistic promise emerging from the students of both institutions.
