On the occasion of National Voters’ Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the nation and highlighted the decisive role of youth in strengthening India’s democratic foundations. In a letter addressed to young citizens and volunteers, the Prime Minister encouraged them to actively engage with the MY Bharat portal, praising their “Can Do” spirit and willingness to shape change through participation.

Marking 75 years of India’s first General Election (1951), the Prime Minister described elections as a “festival of democracy” and reaffirmed India’s identity as both the world’s largest democracy and the Mother of Democracy. He urged MY Bharat volunteers to celebrate first-time voters and spread awareness about the power and responsibility of voting.

Emphasising the importance of electoral participation, the Prime Minister said that voting is a sacred constitutional right and a responsibility, describing voters as the Bhagya Vidhata of India’s development journey. He reiterated during his Mann Ki Baat address that the voter is the soul of democracy and that voting reflects active civic duty.

Inspired by the Prime Minister’s message, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports  Mansukh Mandaviya affirmed that MY Bharat volunteers would turn the experience of first-time voters into a nationwide celebration under the slogan “First Vote. First Responsibility. First Pride.”

To translate this vision into action, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports organised National Voters’ Day celebrations across all States, Union Territories, and districts under the theme “MY Bharat, MY Vote.” Mansukh Mandaviya led events in Karaikal, while Minister of State Raksha Nikhil Khadse participated in celebrations at Amritsar, engaging with youth and first-time voters.

The initiative served as a nationwide youth mobilisation drive aimed at promoting informed, ethical, and active participation in India’s democratic process.
