YWCA of Simla celebrated Independence Day and UN International Youth Day here today at YWCA of Simla at 12:00 noon. The theme for UN International Youth Day this year was based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with emphasis on Goal number 12 which is, “The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Production and Consumption”.

The programme included some brilliant dance and music performances, movie screening, shayari and poetry recitation on the YWCA.12.8 (6)theme, by students and youth members of YWCA of Simla.

The afternoon began with a welcome address by the General Secretary, Rohini Singh, which was followed by a movie screening abd poetry recitation by Joanne Ling. It was then time for some shayari as Poonam entertained the gathering. The students of Beauty Culture Course then presented a dance on ‘Des Mera Rangila’ while the students of Tailoring Course sang a group song ‘Aye Watan Aye Watan’ and danced on the ‘Gabru’.

A vibrant dance performance was then given by Students of Spoken English Course on the song ‘Des Mera Rangila’ and ‘Veervaar’ and students of Beauty Culture Course danced on the number ‘Ganga Nahavan Aai’.

The afternoon ended on a note of a patriotic feeling as all respectfully sung the National Anthem.
