In response to worsening weather conditions and rising incidents of natural disasters, CM  Sukhu has directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to remain on high alert and ensure round-the-clock availability to support public safety and emergency response efforts.

Chairing a virtual review meeting with district administrations from Shimla, the Chief Minister instructed officials to conduct relief and rehabilitation operations on war-footing, particularly in areas affected by landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts.

He emphasized the need to identify and relocate individuals or families—especially migrant labourers—residing near riverbanks, khads, and nullahas to prevent casualties. Additionally, he directed issuance of advisories for tourists and locals, warning against venturing close to water bodies during the monsoon season.

All types of damages and losses must be promptly reported to the State Government, the CM stressed. He also flagged repeated damages to power project infrastructure during monsoon events and called for a comprehensive protection strategy for such critical assets.

Recent Monsoon Impact Summary:

  • 3 cloudbursts, 9 flash floods, and 3 landslides reported in the last 24 hours

  • 5 fatalities, 1 injury, and several missing persons—including 3 in Kullu and 5-6 in Kangra

  • 21 stranded individuals rescued

  • National Highways 505 and NH-03 blocked at multiple points

  • Hydropower plants in Sainj valley (Sainj, Parvati, Larji) shut down and gates opened as precaution following cloudburst at Majhan nullaha

Search and rescue operations are being led by teams from SDRF, NDRF, and Home Guards across vulnerable zones.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Mohan Lal Brakta and Ashish Butail, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Special Secretary (Revenue) D.C. Rana, and OSD to CM Gopal Sharma, among others.
