The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), Dharamshala, has issued a directive to all private schools affiliated with the board, instructing them to remain closed during the designated monsoon vacation period. The order comes in line with instructions from the Directorate of Higher Education, Shimla, as per letter No. EDN-HE(21)F(2)02-A/2023 dated April 8, 2025.

The official circular, signed by Dr. (Major) Vishal Sharma (H.A.S.), Secretary of HPBOSE, outlines the monsoon vacation schedules for various categories of schools:

  • Summer Schools: July 12 to August 12, 2025

  • District Kullu: July 20 to August 12, 2025

  • Winter Schools: August 7 to August 12, 2025

  • Extreme Summer Areas (Nalagarh, Fatehpur, Nurpur (Surian), Indora, Paonta Sahib, Amb (Una)): August 3 to August 12, 2025

The Board has made it clear that no school should remain open during the notified vacation period. Any school found violating the order or found responsible for any mishap due to adverse weather conditions will be held fully accountable, and strict action will be taken under the Affiliation Regulations.

The notice emphasized the importance of adhering to state government and Board guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during the monsoon season.

All affiliated private schools have been urged to treat the directive as mandatory and comply without exception.

  1. It is actually an unplanned, unclear and a pathetic decision made which does not take into account the local conditions. This decision was important in some locations, but for summer closing schools, declaring 1 month holiday just after the students had a 1 month holiday completed last week. This shows poor and unplanned approach. There are no harsh rains or any such danger in summer closing schools and they are just wasting time and money of people while putting education of students at stake.
