Chamba’s rich cultural heritage took center stage as HP Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated the International Minjar Fair–2025, a grand celebration of tradition, folklore, and social harmony. Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, the Governor lauded Chamba’s historical significance and artistic legacy, emphasizing that the fair not only preserves the vibrant folk traditions of Himachal Pradesh but also strengthens community bonds.

Accompanied by Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, the Governor extended his best wishes to the people on this auspicious occasion, calling Minjar Fair a symbol of victory and collective joy. He urged citizens, especially the youth, to remain rooted in cultural values while also staying vigilant against modern social evils, particularly drug abuse. To underline this message, an anti-drug awareness rally was flagged off, and an anti-drug pledge was administered during the event.

The Governor began the fair by offering Minjar to Lord Shri Raghuvir and Shri Lakshmi Narayan, followed by the traditional flag hoisting to the sounds of the Koonjdi-Malhar, marking the formal inauguration of the week-long festivities.

In addition to cultural festivities, the fair featured sports competitions and exhibitions organized by various government departments and social organizations. As part of the Sampoornta Abhiyan, the Governor also felicitated several government officers and employees for their exemplary service at the district and sub-divisional levels.

President of the Municipal Council Neelam Nayar presented the traditional Minjar to the Governor, while Deputy Commissioner and Fair Committee Chairman Mukesh Repaswal honored him on behalf of the organizing body. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the cultural evenings have been thoughtfully curated to appeal to audiences of all ages, with performances by artists from Chamba and other districts across Himachal.

The event was graced by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, his wife Neena Pathania, and several MLAs including Neeraj Nayar, Dr. Hans Raj, D.S. Thakur, and Dr. Janak Raj, along with other dignitaries and officials. The International Minjar Fair–2025 promises a vibrant display of Himachali culture, uniting people through shared heritage and festive spirit.
