Shimla Nursing College–Shurala celebrated World AIDS Day on 1st December 2025 with great enthusiasm, focusing on the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.” The programme, organized under the Red Cross Society, aimed at spreading awareness and encouraging humanitarian values among students. The college’s Youth Red Cross Club, comprising 40 active student members, played a key role in the event.
The occasion was graced by Varinder Bisht, Coordinator, Youth Red Cross Unit (State Branch) Sidharath, Coordinator, Youth Red Cross Unit (District Branch), and their team. Dr. Kimi Sood, Secretary of Shimla Nursing College, motivated the students to stay informed about HIV/AIDS and to disseminate accurate information in society. Principal Dr. Krishna Chauhan also addressed the gathering.
As part of the awareness initiative, the college organized Declamation and Poster Making competitions, where students creatively presented strong messages related to HIV/AIDS awareness.
In addition, the students performed a role play in Shurala village, addressing myths, highlighting prevention methods, and spreading correct information about HIV/AIDS. The performance was witnessed by nearly 60–80 villagers and received appreciation from the local community.
The Red Cross Department arranged refreshments for all participants and attendees.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem, marking the successful end of an impactful awareness event.
