The Department of Digital Technologies and Governance (DDT&G), Himachal Pradesh, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India, organised an Awareness and Sensitization Workshop on User Experience (UX) and Design Systems on 27th February 2026 at IT Bhawan, Shimla. This marks the second state-level workshop aimed at promoting user-centric digital governance.
During the inaugural session, the Secretary (DT&G) handed over Aadhaar enrolment kits and laptops to Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) from Shimla district to strengthen digital service delivery at the grassroots level.
Narender Kumar, Deputy Director (IT), welcomed dignitaries, senior officers, technology leaders, and VLEs, while Dr. Nipun Jindal, Director, DDT&G, welcomed the Chief Guest and participants. The keynote address by Ashish Singhmar, Secretary DDT&G, highlighted the role of UX/UI in improving citizen-centric public services.
Ajeet Kumar, Deputy General Manager, NeGD, and his team conducted sessions on UX fundamentals, design principles, UX audit tools, adoption strategies, and the implementation of the UX4G (User Experience for Government Applications) Design System. Sessions also explored the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in design and governance.
Practical demonstrations on Design Thinking using the DDT&G website and the HPRCA Portal showcased ways to streamline public service delivery and government job application processes. Several departments expressed interest in adopting UX4G tools and best practices, requesting more workshops in the future to enhance digital governance across Himachal Pradesh.
