Governor Kavinder Gupta today called upon citizens, especially youth, to make voluntary blood donation a people’s movement, describing it as one of the greatest services to humanity.
Addressing the SAMVEDNA-2 felicitation programme organised by the National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists (NIFA) at Lok Bhavan, Shimla, the Governor honoured social organisations, volunteers and individuals for their contribution to promoting blood donation.
He said that despite medical advancements, there is no substitute for human blood, making voluntary donation a vital humanitarian responsibility.
The Governor also administered the pledge for a Drug-Free India and urged youth to actively participate in the “Nasha Mukt Yuva Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan”, calling it a collective effort towards nation-building.
Appreciating NIFA’s initiatives, he praised its nationwide blood donation campaign and contribution to social welfare and youth engagement. He also highlighted the importance of guiding young people towards positive and constructive roles in society.
NIFA Founder Chairman Sardar Pritpal Singh Pannu informed that the organisation has around 7,000 volunteers across 30 States and Union Territories working for social causes, including blood donation and national integration.
