The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) organized a one-day Hydrogen Startup Exhibition to promote India’s rapidly growing green hydrogen ecosystem and encourage innovation in clean energy technologies.
The exhibition featured 18 startups working across the hydrogen value chain, including electrolyser technologies, fuel cell applications, biomass-based hydrogen production, safety systems, drone solutions, hydrogen cooking technologies, artificial intelligence/machine learning applications, and bio-hydrogen innovations. These startups presented their products and technologies and interacted with representatives from government, industry, and the research community.
According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), India had 249 hydrogen-focused startups as of September 2025, reflecting strong growth in this sector.
The event was attended by Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Ajay Sood, along with MNRE Secretary Santosh Sarangi, Scientific Secretary Dr. Parminder Maini, and NGHM Director Abhay Bakre, who interacted with participating entrepreneurs.
MNRE had earlier launched a scheme on New and Novel Uses of Hydrogen Production and Applications, with ₹100 crore allocated for startup support, including pilot project funding of up to ₹5 crore per startup. Following this, 111 proposals were received, and 58 startups were shortlisted for further evaluation.
The exhibition marks a continuation of MNRE’s earlier startup showcase held in New Delhi, further strengthening India’s efforts to build a robust hydrogen innovation ecosystem and accelerate the transition towards clean energy.
