In a major breakthrough in an ongoing narcotics investigation, police in Jubbal area of Shimla district have dismantled an inter-state drug trafficking network with the arrest of six accused persons in an NDPS case.

An FIR was registered on February 10 at Police Station Jubbal under Sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During the investigation, police traced backward linkages and arrested the sixth accused, identified as Tarun Thakur (33), a resident of Chogatali village in Sirmaur district, on April 16.

The accused, who was working as a loan manager/field officer with the State Bank of India (SBI) in Rohru, has been arrested under Section 29 of the NDPS Act for his alleged role in the trafficking and distribution of heroin, locally known as “chitta”.

Preliminary findings suggest that he was actively involved in the procurement and supply of narcotics and was in direct contact with the main supplier, Lukas alias Lucky, based in Amritsar, Punjab. Investigators said digital and financial transaction records have further established links within a coordinated drug network.

The case originated on February 9, 2026, when a woman was arrested with 13.46 grams of heroin. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the main supplier on March 17, followed by three more arrests—Ashish alias Gandhi, Manoj Thakur alias Sunny, and Khushi Ram alias Kush—on April 6.

With the latest arrest, the total number of accused in the case has reached six. Police said the probe has uncovered a structured inter-state network involving suppliers, local distributors, and financial channels supporting the illegal trade.

Officials described the operation as a significant step towards breaking a wider narcotics syndicate active in the region. The accused will be produced before the court, while further investigation is underway.
