A high-level U.S. industry delegation, including representatives from the Nuclear Energy Institute and the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum, held discussions with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on expanding private investment and collaboration in India’s nuclear energy sector.

The talks focused on India’s Nuclear Energy Mission, policy reforms, and emerging opportunities in advanced technologies, with special emphasis on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and next-generation nuclear systems.

Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s growing civil nuclear ambitions, stating that capacity is targeted to expand from 8.8 GW to 100 GW by 2047 under the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, opening significant space for global partnerships.

He also underlined the importance of the recently enacted SHANTI Act, 2025, which aims to encourage greater private and foreign participation in the nuclear energy ecosystem.

The discussions also covered cooperation in AI-enabled nuclear safety systems, advanced computing, hydrogen energy, rare earth materials, and ongoing flagship projects such as LIGO-India.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening India–U.S. collaboration in clean energy, innovation and advanced nuclear technologies.
