Governor Kavinder Gupta on Saturday said the media plays a crucial role in shaping society by spreading awareness and inspiring positive change.
Speaking at the Big Impact Awards 2026 organised by BIG FM in Shimla, the Governor urged collective efforts towards fuel conservation and creating a drug-free society. He said media, educational institutions, industries and youth all have an important role in achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Highlighting the influence of radio, he noted that programmes like ‘Mann Ki Baat’ have strengthened public participation and reconnected people through meaningful communication.
The Governor also stressed the need for fuel-saving measures, including greater use of public transport and car-pooling, calling fuel conservation a “national responsibility.”
Expressing concern over rising drug abuse among youth, he urged society and the media to strengthen awareness campaigns and encourage positive engagement through sports, culture and social activities.
He also felicitated individuals from various fields for their contributions to social welfare and public service.
Earlier, BIG FM’s Regional Programming Head Sulakshna Bramta welcomed the Governor and highlighted the organisation’s commitment to socially relevant initiatives and awareness campaigns.
