Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for the identification and verification of unutilized government land. Deputy Commissioners from all districts participated in the meeting through virtual mode.
During the review, officials informed the committee that several government departments are holding substantial parcels of unutilized land. The Industries Department tops the list with 849 hectares, followed by the Tourism Department with 160 hectares, the Technical Education Department with 70 hectares, the Education Department with 50 hectares, the Panchayati Raj Department with 20 hectares and the Transport Department with 11 hectares.
The Minister directed all Deputy Commissioners to expedite the completion and verification of pending land entries. He emphasized that departments should treat this as the final opportunity to update and authenticate their land records. To streamline the exercise, a detailed chart will be circulated among all departments for verification purposes.
The committee also sought comprehensive details of land allotted to Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The information will be compiled and submitted in a prescribed spreadsheet format for further review.
