CM Sukhu has directed the Health Department to complete the modernization of all medical colleges in the state by the end of this year, with advanced equipment, upgraded infrastructure, and improved healthcare facilities for patients.
Reviewing the department’s initiatives, the Chief Minister said the government is strengthening the health sector by filling vacant posts and introducing advanced technologies on the lines of AIIMS, New Delhi. He assured complete support to ensure efficient and quality healthcare services for the people of Himachal Pradesh.
Sukhu informed that three advanced diagnostic laboratories are being set up at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda, Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College Hamirpur, and AIMSS Chamiyana with an investment of Rs. 75 crore. A PET scan facility has been established at IGMC Shimla, while similar facilities are being planned for Tanda and Hamirpur.
To address manpower requirements, the government is initiating the recruitment of 71 paramedical staff and 50 JOA (IT) posts, while 162 additional paramedical posts have already been sanctioned.
Emphasising quality medical education, the Chief Minister said medical colleges must provide a better academic environment, with smaller batches to ensure effective learning. He also reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects at IGMC Shimla, Tanda Medical College, and AIMSS Chamiyana, directing officials to speed up their completion.
He said the upgradation of medical colleges with modern facilities and advanced technology will ensure better healthcare services closer to the homes of the people and reduce dependence on treatment outside the state.
