CM Sukhu inaugurated the Digital Museum at Bantony, Shimla, on Friday, opening a new chapter in the preservation and global showcase of Himachal Pradesh’s rich heritage through technology.
Calling Bantony an important symbol of Shimla’s history, the Chief Minister said the museum marks a new era in heritage conservation by blending tradition with innovation. “The Digital Museum will bridge the past and the future, allowing visitors to experience Himachal’s history and culture in an immersive way,” he said.
Equipped with advanced technologies like 3D scanning, virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive timelines and digital storytelling, the museum offers an engaging journey through the State’s folk traditions, handicrafts, spiritual heritage and stories of its heroes.
The museum traces Shimla’s evolution from a Himalayan hill town to a city of historical significance, while showcasing Himachal’s architectural treasures, eminent personalities, the historic Kalka-Shimla Railway, the State’s journey since formation, its art, culture and culinary traditions.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Digital Museum would emerge as a landmark institution, preserving Himachal’s heritage for future generations while introducing its unique cultural identity to the world through modern technology.
