CM Sukhu virtually inaugurated a 500-kilowatt solar power project at Gram Panchayat Mamlig in Solan district under the Green Panchayat Scheme.
Built at a cost of Rs. 2 crore, the project is generating around 3,000 units of clean energy daily and is expected to produce nearly eight lakh units annually. HPSEBL will purchase the generated power at Rs. 3.50 per unit, providing a sustainable source of revenue.
The Chief Minister said the project follows a people-centric revenue model, with 25 percent income allocated for panchayat development, 25 percent for welfare of orphans and widows, 20 percent to the state government, 20 percent to HIMURJA, and 10 percent for maintenance. The panchayat is expected to earn around Rs. 14 lakh annually.
He said solar projects in rural areas are an important step towards clean energy, environmental protection and making villages self-reliant. The government aims to provide urban-level facilities in rural areas while strengthening the village economy.
Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil appreciated the initiative and highlighted improvements in healthcare services, including increased availability of doctors and advanced facilities in government hospitals. He also urged people to support the campaign against drug abuse.
