Governor Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday reviewed the implementation of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) under ‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0’ at Lok Bhavan and appreciated Himachal Pradesh’s efforts towards achieving the goal of a TB-free state ahead of the national target.
The Governor highlighted the state’s innovative measures, community participation and patient-focused approach, saying sustained efforts had resulted in a decline in reported TB cases from 15,455 in 2024 to 14,636 in 2025.
During the meeting, he was informed about the 100-day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, launched on March 24, 2026. Under the campaign, 5,147 high-risk villages have been identified, with nearly half covered through Ayushman Arogya Camps. Around 1.85 lakh people from vulnerable groups have been screened using AI-enabled handheld X-ray technology for early detection and timely treatment.
The Governor was also apprised that 1,052 Gram Panchayats were declared TB-free in 2025, compared to 823 in 2024 and 731 in 2023. Ayushman Arogya Camps and Mobile Health Units are providing doorstep healthcare services, while the state has strengthened diagnostic facilities with 26 AI-enabled X-ray machines and 119 NAAT machines.
Emphasizing that TB elimination requires collective efforts, the Governor directed the Health Department and National Health Mission to further expand public participation, awareness campaigns and screening activities, especially among high-risk groups.
He expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts and community support, Himachal Pradesh would achieve the target of becoming a TB-free state at the earliest.
During the meeting, Deputy Mission Director, National Health Mission, and State TB Officer Dr. Rajesh Guleria presented details of the programme’s progress and achievements.
