Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has assured complete support and assistance to families affected by the cloudburst in Boh Valley of Kangra district. The Chief Minister spoke over the phone from Shimla with Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, who visited the affected areas to assess the damage caused by the disaster.
Kewal Singh Pathania briefed the Chief Minister about the extent of damage and the relief measures being carried out. He informed that, on the directions of the Chief Minister, the district administration provided immediate relief of Rs. 25,000 along with essential daily-use kits to 19 families whose houses were completely damaged. Financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 each was also provided to 17 families whose houses suffered partial damage.
He further informed that the cloudburst caused significant damage to both public and private property. He requested the Chief Minister to ensure early restoration of roads, drinking water supply and other essential services in the affected areas.
The Chief Minister said that the state government stands firmly with the affected families and assured that all possible assistance would be provided. He directed that restoration of essential services should be carried out on priority.
Sukhu said that he would soon visit the affected areas personally to review the situation and assess the damage. He also appealed to people to remain alert in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall in the coming days.
