HEALTH ALERT: PROTECT YOUR FAMILY FROM SCRUB TYPHUS RISKS
Health authorities in Shimla have raised a crucial alert following 24 confirmed cases of scrub typhus across the district this monsoon season. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Yash Pal Ranta urged residents to exercise extreme caution against the dangerous bacterial infection, which spreads through infected microscopic mites lurking in overgrown grass, fields, and thick foliage. The disease can escalate rapidly, characterized by high fever, severe body aches, dark scab-like lesions (eschars), and organ strain if left unaddressed.
While early diagnosis guarantees effective recovery, delayed action can lead to critical health complications. The district administration has equipped all local health centers with adequate medical supplies and placed surveillance teams on high alert. Citizens are strongly advised to wear fully protective clothing in vegetative areas, keep surroundings clear of weeds, and seek immediate hospital care at the very first sign of persistent fever rather than risking self-medication.
