At a State-level Teachers’ Day ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Governor Kavinder Gupta conferred State Teachers Awards on 32 educators and recognized one teacher with the 2025 National Award. The event featured cultural performances by students of GSSS Portmore and RKMV, alongside the release of a commemorative souvenir by the Governor.

Paying tribute to former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Governor highlighted that a nation’s future takes shape in its classrooms through value-based learning. He emphasized that achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047 requires quality, inclusive education as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Governor Gupta noted that while artificial intelligence, robotics, and modern digital tools enhance learning, they can never replace the personal mentorship, values, and inspiration provided by a teacher. He also commended Himachal Pradesh for placing second nationally in Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) under the PARAKH survey.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur detailed key state initiatives, noting that the literacy rate in Himachal Pradesh has reached 100 percent. He highlighted the recruitment of over 9,000 personnel in the Education Department, the introduction of English from Class I alongside local languages, and structural rationalization to fix staffing shortages. Additionally, he shared that students and teachers are receiving broader perspective through domestic educational tours and international exposure trips.

Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani praised the awardees for going beyond their standard duties and suggested documenting their success stories to inspire others. He reinforced that developing institutions of excellence remains the top priority for fulfilling national educational goals.
