Himachal Pradesh is actively seeking fresh avenues for academic research and technological collaboration with Japan, according to Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani. Leading an official delegation from the Technical Education Department, the Minister visited Tokyo Metropolitan University to discuss knowledge exchange, joint research initiatives, and student exposure programs with university leaders. Minister Dharmani emphasized that partnering with top Japanese institutions aims to elevate technical education, foster innovation, and prepare local youth for the evolving global tech workforce. During the visit, a group of Himachali students participated in a seminar highlighting Japan’s cutting-edge education system and emerging technologies.
Additionally, Minister Dharmani served as the chief guest at the international conference ‘Advanced Technologies for Sustainable Food, Health and Materials (ICATS-FHM 2026)’ hosted by Hokkaido University in Sapporo. In his address, he underlined the strong potential for India-Japan cooperation in sustainable agriculture, healthcare, advanced materials, and skill development. Noting Himachal Pradesh’s unique ecological layout, he stressed the need for eco-friendly technological solutions to protect the state’s natural resources, water assets, and agricultural sector. He concluded that combining India’s young workforce with Japan’s advanced research capabilities will create powerful new synergies across academia, industry, and government.
