The Ministry of Ayush is accelerating the deployment of Artificial Intelligence across the traditional medicine sector, expanding upon the digital foundation established by the Ayush Grid. This initiative incorporates AI across healthcare delivery, research, education, information services, and investment facilitation, transitioning the sector toward intelligent, user-centric digital platforms.
To enhance citizen accessibility, the Ministry has introduced several interactive GenAI tools, including the MAISP Chatbot for general Ayush information, the ARP Research Assistant for navigating traditional medicine literature, and the eLMS Chatbot for student lifecycle management. Additionally, tools like the e-CHARAK Chatbot assist with the medicinal plant trade, Yoga Saarthi offers personalized yoga recommendations, and Nivesh Saarthi guides investment within the Ayush domain.
The global relevance of these efforts was recently highlighted at the IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026 through a joint WHO-partnered AI Impact Casebook, which featured the Ministry’s Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approach for Ayurveda decision support. Through participation in the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge, the Ministry continues to foster solutions such as voice-based Electronic Health Records, disease-trend detection, and personalized clinical decision support.
To broaden reach and accessibility, collaborations with IndiaAI and MeitY’s Digital India Bhashini Division have enabled Ayush Grid portals to support 22 scheduled Indian languages, while key datasets have been made available on AI Kosh for open research. The initiative aims to leverage technology to make traditional Ayurvedic knowledge more discoverable, evidence-based, and accessible globally without altering its foundational principles.
