Governor Kavinder Gupta honored Sarvesh Sharma, a student of Government Polytechnic, Hamirpur, for securing a major ₹3.5 crore grant from the Ministry of Defence to develop the indigenous ‘Rudra Edge T-1 (Spectra)’ drone for the Indian Army.
Commending his achievement, the Governor stated that this breakthrough highlights the immense innovation and technical talent present among the youth of Himachal Pradesh. He noted that developing native defence technologies directly strengthens the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. During the interaction, Governor Gupta inquired about the drone’s capabilities, development hurdles, and future plans, encouraging young people across the state to step up as innovators, entrepreneurs, and job creators in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-reliant India. Deputy Commissioner Gandharva Rathore and Superintendent of Police Balbir Singh were also present at the event.
