CM Sukhu today announced a cash reward of at least ₹1 crore each for three Himachali players of the Indian women’s kabaddi team—Pushpa Rana, Jyoti Thakur, and Bhawna Thakur—who secured the gold medal at the Asian Games. The gold-medallist trio called on the Chief Minister at his residence in Shimla today.
Honouring the athletes with traditional Himachali caps and shawls, Chief Minister Sukhu congratulated them on their monumental achievement. He announced that the state government will soon host a formal felicitation ceremony where the cash prizes will be presented. Additionally, the Chief Minister assured government employment for all three players, offering appointments in the Youth Services and Sports Department for those opting not to join the Police Department, enabling them to pursue their sports careers while contributing to sports development in the state.
Highlighting the state’s revised sports policy, the Chief Minister emphasized that historic enhancements have been made to prize money alongside major investments in state sports infrastructure. He further announced a cash award of ₹1 crore for star cricketer Renuka Thakur in recognition of her international achievements.
