A momentous day for the Indian Army — 29 Sep 2016 — as it struck multiple terrorist launch pads located in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in retaliation of the ‘Uri Attack’. To commemorate the Second Anniversary of the Surgical Strikes by the Indian Army, HQ ARTRAC, at Shimla conducted a number of events to showcase the achievement. The aim was to have maximum interaction with the civil population to enable them to have better understanding of their Army.
On 28th Sep 2018, the events commenced at Annandale Golf Course, where around 500 school children from all the majors schools of Shimla, along with a large number of civilians and ex-servicemen gathered to witness the pipe-band display, weapon display and battle demonstration by soldiers. The students were so enthused that they volunteered in large numbers to undergo obstacle course to test their fitness and survival skills. The students were also shown movies on Surgical Strike and on Heroes from Himachal. The team from I&B Ministry enthralled the audience with patriotic songs.
This was an amazing experience for all the school children. “We are proud of our Himachal bravehearts and salute the Indian Army”, said a school boy.
