Governor Dedicates the Newly Established Blood Bank at Nalagarh

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar who is also the President of State Red Cross Society today dedicated the newly established blood bank to the public at Community Health Centre Nalagarh in Solan district today. This blood bank has been constructed with the help of State Red Cross Society. Member of Indian Red Cross Management Committee and President of State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Branch Dr. Sadhna Thakur was also present on the occasion. Governor also inaugurated a blood donation camp jointly organized by District Red Cross and the Health Department.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that it is for the first  time Red Cross Society had established a blood bank and society would take initiatives for establishment of such blood banks in other parts of the state also. He said that many industrial houses had also come forward and contributed for the blood bank at Nalagarh. Efforts would also be made to establish Cervical Cancer Detection Unit in the state through the Red Cross, added Governor. Appreciating the efforts of the Red Cross, the Governor said that this organization had been working for the service of humanity with the valuable contribution and cooperation of the people. Red Cross was also making efforts to provide free health services to the needy people. He said that the State government had made continuous efforts to provide better health services to the people at their doorstep and Red Cross had been giving its support in this direction. On the occasion, Dr. Sadhna Thakur said that her efforts had been successful after the inauguration of blood bank in Nalagarh. Being an industrial area, there was an urgent need of blood bank at Nalagarh, added Dr. Sadhna Thakur. She also gave detailed information about the various activities of Red Cross Society.

She said that Society had established Dialysis Centre at Sundernagar, Physiotherapy Centre at Mandi, Rehabilitation Centre for women at Kullu, Help Centre at IGMC Shimla and Kamla Nehru Hospital Shimla and Roti Making Machine in Bilaspur hospital. Apart from this, Red Cross has donated mobile health units and more than 30 patient vehicles. She also appealed the people to generously contribute for the Red Cross so that the maximum people could be helped through its activities. Earlier, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Principal Secretary Health Subhasish Panda honored the Governor. Director Health Dr. Anita Mahajan welcomed the Governor and gave detailed information about the activities of the department. Chief Medical Officer, Solan Dr. Rajan Uppal presented a vote of thanks. MLA Nalagarh Lakhwinder Rana, former MLA K.L. Thakur Secretary to Governor and General Secretary Red Cross Rajesh Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority Richa Verma, Superintendent of Police Baddi Mohit Chawla, President of Municipal Council Reena Sharma and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
