Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur met with delegates of Pennsylvania Global and Education HUB (PennHUB) to discuss the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost skill-based education.
State government prioritizes skill-based education system
Thakur stated that the state government is focusing on developing a skill-based education system and seeking international partnerships to boost this under the New Education Policy (NEP). The government has already signed a letter of Intent with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (PASSHE), USA, which marks a “purely academic partnership” through PennHUB.
Aims and objectives of the MoU (Mou With Pennsylvania Global)
Special Envoy to India and UAE from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Kanika Chaudhary, provided details about the objectives and scopes of the MoU. PennHUB will provide guidance and support to the state government for the successful implementation of the MoU, which includes target strategic partnerships between higher education institutions, collaborative research and curricular programs, student exchange programs, and professional development training for educators and administrators.
Improving diversity and inter-cultural awareness
Thakur highlighted that the partnership with PennHUB will also work towards improving diversity and inter-cultural awareness among students, fostering diverse educational exchanges and opening more opportunities for Himachali students to study in the USA.
