Empowering Lives: HIV-Affected Individuals In Himachal Pradesh

Under the joint aegis of Health and Family Welfare Department and Himachal Pradesh AIDS Control Committee, a workshop was organized here today under the chairmanship of Project Director Rajeev Kumar. In this, the topic of programs to be run in coordination with various departments for people living with HIV was discussed. Rajeev Kumar said that the main objective of this workshop is to connect the people living with HIV in Himachal to the main stream of the society through various departments.

He said that the government has provided free and timely treatment facilities to the people suffering from AIDS. Besides, the state government is also providing financial assistance to the children and orphans of the affected persons for their education and other living needs. He urged Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation to also consider connecting people living with HIV with skill development programs.

About 10 people including Higher Education, Urban Development, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department, Technical Education, Women and Child Development Department, State Livelihood Mission, Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation, National Health Insurance Scheme, Mild Fed and Himachal Pradesh Legal Services Authority participated in the workshop. Representatives of departments participated.

Persons living with HIV also shared their views during the workshop. The departmental representatives assured that every possible effort will be made to include them in their welfare schemes. Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Legal Services Authority, Vikas Gupta, along with officers and officials of Himachal Pradesh AIDS Control Committee were also present in the workshop.
