Auckland House School commenced its much-anticipated week-long cultural festival ‘Zephyr’, celebrating 160 years of educational excellence and rich tradition. The festival is dedicated to the memory of former Principal Late Mrs. Sunita John, whose vision and leadership continue to inspire the school community.
The inaugural event, ‘Riturang’ – Inter-School Folk Dance Competition, witnessed enthusiastic participation from ten leading schools of Shimla, including Auckland House School for Boys, Laureate Public School, Chapslee School, Ivy International School, Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Bishop Cotton School, Convent of Jesus and Mary, St. Thomas’ School, Shimla Public School, and the host institution, Auckland House School.

Showcasing the vibrant cultural heritage of India, students enthralled the audience with colourful folk dance performances representing traditions from Gujarat, Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab and other regions. The event celebrated the spirit of unity in diversity through music, rhythm and artistic expression.
The programme was graced by Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal, RKMV College, as the Chief Guest. Renowned classical dance experts Dr. Vishal Kumar and Dr. Usha served as judges for the competition. Following a spirited contest, Auckland House School emerged as the winner, while Shimla Public School secured the second position and Convent of Jesus and Mary finished third. Loreto Convent Tara Hall was awarded the Consolation Prize for its commendable performance.

The successful opening of Zephyr set an inspiring tone for the celebrations ahead, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent, promoting cultural values, and encouraging holistic development among students. The festival will continue throughout the week with a series of creative and competitive events designed to foster collaboration, innovation and excellence among young learners.
