Bhumika Dawar was among the top twelve participants from the Middle East region as she won the competition for her speech on the topic ‘Education’. Some people think that the government should make university education free for all students, regardless of their financial situation. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In the present day most of people are suffering financially for their education. Therefore, there has been much discussion revolving around the issue whether the government should provide free education for all students. In the following paragraphs I shall discuss that free education is must for all students.

There are so many people who are struggling financially. In these situations most of the parents do not allow their children to go school. Even many students are sacrificing their university education due to lack of money. Nowadays every student needs a good education for their life and improve their knowledge. Education is a key to success and improve career. For that, the government should provide tertiary education for all students to avoid the inequality which means the poor or rich people. Some countries provide free education for students. For instance, Sri Lanka and India provide free education for every student. There are many government schools and government universities built to provide free education. At the same time most of the developed countries do not have free education (UK and USA). These countries also consider providing free education for children. Moreover, some rural area people are not affordable to pay a lump amount for their children’s education. Therefore, the government should make public awareness for free education. Besides, the government should spend more money for free education without wasting it on other useless things.

In contrast, if students pay for their education, that money can help to develop the university infrastructure. Also the government should invest more money for hospitals to buy medicines and equipment which is very needful for everyone. Therefore individuals should take responsibility unless they are financially unstable.

As a consequence I would assert that free education is a must for every student. Therefore the government should allocate some money to provide free education.
