The Rev. Dr. Samuel Slater Inter-School Debates have been a part of Bishop Cotton School’s rich history since the past 25 years. Many prestigious schools of the country including schools like The Doon School, Dehradun, Lawrence School Sanawar, Woodstock School, Mussoorie and La Martinere for Girls, Kolkata, Mayo College, Ajmer along with Bishop Cotton School are participating in the four day long 25th edition of this debating competition. The day commenced with the debate between Mayo College, Ajmer on the proposing side and Bishop Cotton School on the opposing side. The debate pertained to the topic “The Indian Education System is out of touch with the Global Market”. 

The proposition presented their major constructs on how the Indian education system lacked practicality and individuality and was totally out of touch with the global market. While utterly opposing them, Bishop Cotton School’s team constructed on how the country’s education system even after having flaws, didn’t fail to become a part of the global market. Though, the debate was fought in great proximity, Bishop Cotton School’s team won against Mayo College, Ajmer to make its place in the quarter finals of the event. The day ended with a total of eight quarter final entries, after a grand total of 48 commendable debates in the qualifying round.
