Christmas is a perfect event to celebrate the love of god. It is a festival of joy where everyone seems to be happy. People are filled with the spirit of giving without a thought of getting back, forgetting self and finding time for others. Christmas is the time to be merry, happy and of new beginnings. It is all about good times, merriment and good cheer. It is celebrated all over the world to mark the birth of Lord Jesus. Christmas being the festival of winter season also marks the beginning of winter vacations in most of schools.
Christmas celebrations in St. Thomas school, DCM, Jaipur were held with great zeal and fervor by the pre-primary section. Most of the children were dressed as Santas and the dress code for the teaching staff was also red colour. One could see red colour all around. Even the decorations in the school were all in red — balloons, streamers, hangings, sparkling stars and the display board had been decorated depicting the Christmas night.
One could see the spirit of Christmas celebrations among the children. They were excited to see each other dressed as Santas. The main attraction for them was a visit to the Church where they were told about the birth of Lord Jesus by the Headmistress Nivedita Doegar. A beautiful crib had been displayed in the school premises along side which there was a Christmas tree which was decorated by the children with small balls, bells, drums, stars, small Santas and gift boxes. Rev. Father Biju Daniel was the chief guest. Trustee P. O. Geevarghese and Secretary Shaji Thomas were also present. The Christmas tree was also decorated by the chief guest – Chairman Rev. Daniel, Trustee, Secretary, Headmistress and the teaching staff.
Children presented a cultural programme as they sang the Carol – Mary’s Boy Child Jesus Christ’, prayer songs 10,000 Reasons and Every
thing I have, which were followed by the dances on the songs Jingle Bells, Bum Bum Bole, If You Are Happy, Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush, Wheels of the Bus, etc. Children had made cutouts related to Christmas – Santa faces, Christmas trees and socks. Christmas was celebrated with great enthusiasm in St. Thomas School Girdharipura, Jaipur, as Rev. Fr. Jomon George, Rev. Fr. Biju Daniel, Trustee P.O. Varghese, Secretary Shaji Thomas, Principal Sonal Sharma, Vice Principal P. Mathay, Coordinator Soye Daniel and Headmistress Nivedita Doegar were present during the occasion. Principal Sonal Sharma welcomed the guests as she presented bouquets to Rev George and Rev. Daniel.
Thereafter, children presented a cultural programme under the guidance of their teachers. The programme began with a prayer song by Aleena and group; after which Dona Lalu, School Head Girl, welcomed the guests. Other presentations included a Bible reading by Basil Scaria; Dance-Super Duper (primary classes) by Namya and group; Hindi Carol Chand Sitare by Sneha and group; Dance Prabhu Yeshu Naam by Seema and group; Skit on the birth of God Jesus by Sonia and group; a Carol Silent Night by Christy and group; and Dance Snow is falling by Shiwali and group.
Rev. George spoke on the occasion of Christmas and gave his blessings to the children. The vote thanks was offered by Tanmay Sain. After the programme Christmas cake cutting was done and shared with all present.
