CM Inaugurates Park of Shimla City Near Oakover

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated a Park near Oakover here today. An amount of Rs. 2.40 crore has been spent in the first phase for the construction of this Park under the AMRUT Mission. 

While addressing the people on the occasion, Chief Minister said that this Park would emerge as a major attraction of the locals as well as tourists. He said that an amount of Rs. 2 crore would be spent for development of second phase of this Park under Smart City Mission.  He said that unique feature of this is that it has open gym, playground for children, better way for the general public to visit etc. A waterfall has also been established for the attraction of tourists and local public, he added. Apart from this, a storage tank with a capacity of 1.14 lakh liters has also been built in the Park and plants planted in the park would be irrigated with its water.  

Jai Ram Thakur said that selfie points and wall paintings showing the beauty of Shimla were also available in the Park.  From the point of view of conservation of nature, the Park has more than 30 species of plants and lush green pine trees that has added to the beauty of this park, he added. Chief Minister said that efforts were on to restore the old glory of Shimla town. He said that roads of the city were being widened and more parking were being constructed to facilitate the people of the city as well as tourists. 

Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that this Park was a step of the State Government in beautification of Shimla town. He said that several parkings were being constructed in different parts of Shimla city to facilitate the locals as well as tourists. Mayor Shimla Municipal Corporation Satya Koundal, Deputy Mayor Shalinder Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi, Commissioner Shimla Municipal Corporation Ashish Kohli, local Councillor Dr. Kimi Sood, Councillors of Shimla Municipal Corporation were present on the occasion among others.
