Professors from the Department of Electric Engineering & Pharma shared the services, vision and prospectus details of Baddi University of Emerging Science & Technology for the new academic year.

Baddi University was established in 2002, and was declared a State independent university by UGC in 2008. The programmes offered at the university are Engineering – Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical: B TECH, M TECH, BCA, MCA & PhD; Medical – Pharmacy: D PHARM, B PHARM, M PHARM & PhD; Nursing: BSC Nursing; Physiotherapy: BPT; Agriculture: BSC; Management: MBA, BBA, BCOM; and School of Sciences: BSC honours, MSC.

The courses have been revised and polished after the COVID pandemic and a few new courses have been introduced such as Nursing and Physiotherapy courses. The University believes that these courses have great potential and requirements in the workforce and the need for these will only grow in the future. Most of the universities’ policies follow UGC norms and have several functional programmes running as per that, to name a few, Academic Adoption Programme, Scholarship Cell & Student Welfare Body. The Academic Adoption Programme offers the students an opportunity to learn and earn at the same time. From second year onwards, the students can work in their respective industries for 15 days and simultaneously attend classes in the evening, the work at the industries gives them first-hand experience of the theoretical education and a maximum amount of Rs 9,000 will be revived via the work. This policy enables students to support their families and education via this programme.

The University offers scholarships to its students on the basis of national and state-level policies, additionally, UGC guidelines also include some scholarships but they are covered among the scholarships provided by the Governments. The available scholarships are — Below Poverty Line Scholarship, which can be used only if the certificate is available; Single Girl Child Scholarship; Sibling scholarship which can be availed by one sibling, so that the financial burden on the family is decreased as well as scholarship for SCs and STs.

The University has a Training and Placements department which deals with providing placements to students and also running Personality Developmental Programmes side by side, these programmes focus on enhancing the personality of students and preparing them for a professional workspace experience.

Another interesting department in the University is the Idea Factory – ideas are thought and worked upon by students, for example, Recycling Electronic Junk and creating new equipment or creating Solar Panelled Cars. The University also has a student welfare body which caters to the needs of students by exposing them to various extracurricular activities such as sports, NCC, Yoga, etc. It also organises alumni interaction so that the current batches can get an insight into the professional workspace.

The University’s main goal is to keep education a very fun and knowledgeable experience by making it accessible to students from all walks of life. They aim to make learning not only a classroom experience but also a practical and professional experience.
